"I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for
Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces
like a potter's vessel.'"
Living in a country that has rejected the LORD as God has severe consequences.
Those consequences can be deep and far reaching, but often times slow to come because of the longsuffering and mercy of our loving Father. The rejection of Christ as Lord and Savior in our land began to happen decades ago. We, today, see the effects of such a shameful,
and dangerous choice that was made by many of our leaders and countrymen. There is no longer a moral compass guiding this country, and every man is doing what he thinks is right in his own opinion. Christian persecution is accepted here in a land whose constitution guarantees us freedom of religion.
As Christians, it can feel as though the bad guys are winning. It can get discouraging and confusing as we see the ungodly triumph in our personal life, in our country, and in the world. But we are not the only ones to feel this way. Asaph wrote several of the Psalms. In Psalm 73, he talks about how the injustice of the wicked prospering in the world while the godly suffered, confused him and caused him to rethink his choice to follow God. He said, "Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence." He was wondering if he got it right. His confusion vanished when he went in to the sanctuary of God and understood the end the ungodly will suffer eternally. He found out how to live in an ungodly world
and maintain his strong faith in God, and in the word of God. He found out that he must keep his eyes of faith on His LORD at all times, and believe every word thatGod has said will come to pass.
In Psalm 2:7-9, our Lord Jesus Christ, lets us in on a conversation between Himself and HisFather. The nations of this world may think they are in control, but they are not. The nations of this world may think they will go on forever, but they will not. The nations of this world may believe there is not God, but there is. Though it seems the nations of this world are triumphing
over our Lord Jesus, they will one day be defeated and brought into subjection to Him.The world has been given to the Son as an inheritance, and His rule will be one of
righteousness. Christian, you are on the right path. You will triumph in the end. The Lord Jesus is coming again.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to keep my eyes on you no matter what's going on in my life, country, or in the world. You are in control of it all. Help me to stand firm on the Rock, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, who is coming quickly. Lift my spirit today and help me to praise you not matter what.
